Working Mom Casual Style
I know there are women out there who have rocking bodies, even after having kids. They make time to get fit, and are booming with energy and self-confidence. I’m not one of them.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE exercising and being active. Seriously, I really do. I just haven’t had time to think lately, much less carve out time to work on myself.
I have faith that I will someday soon get back on the “working out” wagon, and work towards that rocking body. Until then, I’m not going to beat myself up over it.
Because I don’t yet have that rocking body, I need a little camouflage when picking out clothes. Tents and elastic waistbands are SO not going in my closet, but I still want to have nice clothes that make me feel fantastic.
Loose, Flowing Tops
After giving birth six times, I have plenty of belly pooch. In cooler weather I can slip my Spanx on underneath my clothes… but I live in Florida and it is NOT feasible to have double layers during the brutal, humid summers. I love loose, flowing tops that are long enough to camouflage my booty.
Girls, don’t be afraid of skinny jeans! I was always insanely jealous of the stick thin girls with the pencil thin skinny jeans, but I thought there was NO way they would work for me. Then, my friend gave me a few pairs. After that I was sold and I’ve never gone back!
Don’t get me wrong, I look for jeans with a lot of stretch, and as much as I hate to admit it, high waists are better.
I swore I would never buy high-waisted “Mom” jeans, and was NEVER going to be one of THOSE moms! Yes, I have children, and I love my children with all of my heart and soul… but I don’t want to look “frumpy” and I equated high-waisted jeans with “frumpy”!
However, I finally had to admit that it was MUCH nicer to have the jeans hold in my belly fat versus my roll spilling over the top, tearing my skin, and cutting off circulation.
If you’re still not sold on the high-waisted look, just remember, you’re going to have a long, flowing shirt that will cover it up.
I am totally in love with Wedges this year. The few I have are super comfortable and surprisingly easy to walk in (trust me… I can trip with flat shoes on flat ground). Wedges make me feel taller and more confident, and I feel like I can take on the world!
