Sports Mom Problems
So, you all know how excited I’ve been to be a new sports mom. I’ve researched everything I can…and have my Mommy Baseball Bag all packed. I know all of the members on the team, and I’ve finally made friends with the other parents. Now, I’m learning about sports mom problems that all of the articles forgot to mention.
No matter how many heart-to-heart talks I have with my child…he still starts crying when he strikes out. My baby doesn’t have those quiet tears. He doesn’t try to be brave and keep it all in. Ohhhhhhhhhhhh no, he bellows to the point that players on the OTHER field can hear him. Lovely…
Just when I get him calmed down enough to cheer for his teammates….my 6-year old comes running to me screaming.
Seriously?? He got stung by a bee…. again! This time he got stung twice in the neck. No problem. After his last run-in with a bee, I went out and bought a brand-new bottle of Benadryl.
As I’m spraying anti-itch medicine on his neck with one hand, I’m rummaging through my bag with the other….NO BENADRYL! W.T.H?!?
Fortunately, my friend Christa flew in with her super-mom cape (I truly love this woman!) and gave Michael a quick-dissolving tablet. He ran off to play.
Our team started losing…badly. They have been doing amazing this season (5-1-1), and they decimated this team the last time they played them….so the boys were taking it really hard.
While I’m trying to watch the game, and cheer the team on…out of the corner of my eye, I notice a hose spraying water everywhere behind the concession stand…and Michael is missing. Crap!!
I took off running!!
My 6-year old is standing behind the concession stand with his friends, trying to figure out how to turn the hose off (that he had managed to turn on with no problem) …and it is spraying EVERYWHERE! In a few short seconds, he’d managed to flood the entire back side (and most of his friends). He’s standing there completely soaked!
Great…when is the next game?
