When my older kids were younger, we bought an annual pass to the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) in Tampa. It’s about an hour and a half drive from our house, but it’s SO much fun and totally worth it.
MOSI has a lot of really great exhibits, an IMAX theater, a butterfly garden, and the Saunder’s Planetarium. The best part is that the exhibits are very hands-on. The kids get to learn about electricity, the weather, the human body, and so much more!
A few weeks ago, my husband and I bought annual passes again and took as many kids as we could fit into the Prius (three). We packed a lunch, fueled the car, and headed towards Tampa.
We hit a little bit of construction, but other than that, the drive wasn’t that bad. Once we got there the babies were overwhelmed with all of the exciting exhibits. My older daughter was excited to see the new exhibits they’d added since we’d been there last.
Anyone who grew up in the 80’s can figure out why the picture below freaked my husband and I out. If you didn’t grow up in the 80’s, watch Big, with Tom Hanks.
Gage, Michael, and Jaymi taking a rest at the Butterfly Exhibit. It was so neat to see the different butterflies. It’s such a beautiful and relaxing exhibit.
My husband and Michael checking out an exhibit in the Kids in Charge building. My kids LOVE this section. Everything is geared towards kids, and everything is interactive.
A few exhibits like the Zip Line and the Roller Coaster Simulator have an extra fee, Steve and Gage decided to try the Roller Coaster Simulator.
Because we could only fit so many kids in the car, I went back two weeks later with all four boys when Steve was at work.
It’s amazing how much we saw this trip that we’d missed on the last trip.
Everyone had SUCH a great time! It was so much fun watching them explore all of the different exhibits. They loved the IMAX movies (though I had severe panic attacks because of the height), and they loved the Saunders Planetarium. The lights go off and the seats are so comfy….definitely the most relaxing part of both days
I’m so glad that we bought the annual passes. The greatest part is the discounts/admissions we will get for becoming a member. We’ll be able to visit other awesome places in the coming months.
What fun places do you all visit?
