We may not live in a large metropolitan area, but we still have a ton of local family fun! We have parks, parades, festivals, museums, and loads of other fun stuff. My husband works on Saturdays so I look out for events to keep the kids entertained, and that gets us out of the house.
Every year a church in our area holds a Winterfest. The kids play on bounce houses, climb on the rock wall, and even go sledding (in Florida!). The food and drinks are free, and everyone is so friendly. The local schools even schedule for the chorus to play. Gage is in his chorus and was so excited to get on stage. We get to catch up with old friends and have a blast!
My husband works Tuesday through Saturday, and I work Monday through Friday. Sundays are the only days we get to spend together with all of us. Granted, activities have to be scheduled around football and Nascar, but we find a way.
We LOVE nature trails, so most Sundays we head to the park. The boys love reading the plant signs along the trail and we create scavenger hunts for them. Sometimes we’ll race each other (they always win), and sometimes we just enjoy the walk. After working hard all week, it’s so nice to be outside in the fresh air to decompress.
Spending time together is really important for families. Happy kids come from happy families. Happy families get out of the house!
