Five Products I Always Buy Generic
I love bargain-shopping!! Finding great deals cause shivers up my spine (yeah, I’m weird like that).
Most products have both brand-name and generic versions. Generic versions have mostly the same ingredients…but not the higher costs.
I have five products that I always buy generic.
Coconut oil provides so many amazing benefits that entire books are dedicated to them.
The oil is used for cooking, removing makeup, moisturizing your hair and skin, and OMG…too many more to list. Plus, it tastes so good…I can eat it right off the spoon.
Look for Organic Extra-Virgin Coconut oil for the best health benefits. Our grocery store, Publix, has an excellent store brand.
Olive oil is another super healthy fat that is made from…wait for it…olives!
This oil is really popular with the Mediterranean diet and is supposed to be really good for your heart.
I’m not a doctor, and I won’t claim that I know all of the benefits of olive oil…but I LOVE the taste.
I stopped using salad dressing when I began the Keto diet. Now, I just use olive oil and Himalayan Salt.
Again, look for Organic Extra-Virgin Olive Oil. The other versions just don’t have the same flavor. Publix has a great store-brand for this as well.
Chia seeds are one of the greatest Super Foods. They are loaded with fiber, protein, and antioxidants. In addition, they are high in Omega-3’s. The seeds are extremely versatile… I make chia pudding, and add them to my shakes, salads, and soups. Add them to any recipe!
When wet, the seeds form a gelatinous coating. I’ve read that this coating grabs toxins from your body as it flows through your body. Score!
I’ve bought them online, at my local Publix, and even at Aldi’s. I’ve never noticed a difference with any of them. We go through a LOT of chia seeds at my house, so I have to find the cheapest ones I can.
I started drinking Almond Milk when I was on the Keto Diet. It’s extremely low in carbs (most I’ve seen say <1 gram), and the Plain, Unsweetened Almond Milk has only 30 calories.
I make chia pudding as a healthy sweet treat, with Almond Milk as a base. In addition, I use it in my shakes…yum!!
I’ve used both brand names and generic version, and saw no difference in taste, consistency, or vitamin make-up. Buy the generic version…save your money.
I live in Florida, so we drink a LOT of water, and water is water! I’m sure some will take offense to this, but I usually save every water bottle I can and fill it with tap water.
I know we should buy the healthier, fancy BPA free reusable water bottles…but I haven’t had a chance to get them for all of us yet. So, for now, we just reuse the water bottles.
We don’t normally refill them more than once though, because the boys are pretty hard on their bottles.
