A Day in the Life of a Working Mom
We all have crazy, hectic schedules…and, just when we think we can’t add one more thing to those schedules, along comes something else. Here is a day in the life of a working mom.
One thing I’ve learned is to get out of the mindset that I can’t handle anything else. I can…I just have to put my mind to it.
I’m going to tell you about my typical Monday, because that is our busiest day.
3:45 am – Wake up with hubby and go to the gym (we live with my mother-in-law so, she is there for the boys). On the days that the bed is way too comfortable…we get up at 5:15 am.
5:15 am – Wake up the boys, make everyone breakfast, make my lunch, get the boys dressed…. try to fit sips of coffee in there somewhere. Get ready for work.
6:30 am – Take the boys to the bus stop, wait for the bus.
7:15 am – Head to work
7:30 am – Put my food in the fridge, turn on my computer, go to the bathroom, and just chill.
8:00 am – 5:00 pm – Mondays are our busiest days so I’s pretty much non-stop all day. Try to fit lunch in somewhere.
5:00 pm – My husband has Mondays off, so he drives me to work…and he’s there now to pick me up. We head to Boys’ and Girls’ Club to pick up Gage and Michael.
5:15 pm – Drag the boys kicking and screaming (joking… a little) off of the computer and into the car, stop by a store to grab some drinks and snacks.
5:30 pm – Get to the ball fields, and hang out with Michael (usually heading to the bathroom), while Daddy and Gage practice. If practice/games start at 6:00 pm, they don’t practice long…. if they start at 7:00 pm, they practice a lot.
8:00 pm or 9:00 pm – Get home where, thankfully, my mother-in-law has dinner ready. I put away the laundry and clean as much as I can.
9:30 pm – I try to get on my laptop to put a post together.
10:00pm – Take a shower and try to fall asleep.
It’s definitely a busy, hectic day… and, NEVER expect me to say anything remotely intelligent. I love, love, love coffee… and couldn’t live without it.
I try to eat healthy (for the most part) and stay hydrated (again, for the most part) to preserve every bit of energy I can.
On Tuesdays through Fridays, I try to go back to the gym for a quick 20-minute workout…it just depends on how busy we are at work. I have SO much more energy and can focus more for the rest of the day.
