I’m still a new sport’s mom (click here for my introduction to being a sport’s mom), but I learn a little more at every practice (like, bring Visine drops for your six-year old who keeps rubbing his eyes while eating mustard-flavored pretzels and has to miss two days of school because his eyes are completely swollen).
When I first signed Gage up for baseball, I went to Pinterest to research “Sport’s Moms”. I didn’t want to be unprepared, I mean, I still had PTSD from when my first child (now 19) had her first doctor’s appointment as a newborn and I forgot to bring another diaper, or even a blanket ,and the nurse had to wrap her in her beautiful snow white sweater.
A few of the articles I read talked about having a “sports” bag.
A “sports” bag? Huh?
The first few articles I read really overwhelmed me…one mom had three huge bags! Seriously?? The practices are an hour and a half…tops!
I can’t seriously need three huge bags of stuff…what DO I need?
Well, Visine drops are a must (see above) …but, what else? I went to Dollar General and looked for a basic first aid kit… nothing. Then I went to the section for travel items and grabbed everything “first-aid” related.
I ended up with Band-Aids, antibiotic cream, anti-itch spray, and Vaseline.
I also bought gallon-size baggies so that I’d be an ORGANIZED, prepared mom!
So far, I haven’t needed any of the items…but, I at least feel prepared 😊
